​Advocacy
Advocacy refers to the process of actively supporting, promoting, and working towards the rights, interests, and well-being of individuals or groups who may be disadvantaged.

Purpose
The purpose of advocacy is to empower individuals or communities by giving them a voice and helping them navigate complex systems and structures that affect their lives.

Caregiving Advocacy


Key Focus Areas

Housing
Ensures that everyone has access to safe, affordable, and adequate housing. Advocacy efforts work towards addressing issues such as homelessness, substandard housing, and housing affordability to ensure that individuals and families have access to suitable living conditions.  ​

Oral health
Promoting awareness about the importance of preventive care, such as regular dental check-ups, proper oral hygiene practices, and healthy dietary habits.

Kinship Care
Promotes the idea that children thrive when they are placed in a familiar and supportive environment with their kin.
- Michigan kinship care coalition- an inclusive network of voices collaborating to strengthen and increase support for kinship families through advocacy, increased education, and raised awareness to equip all families to thrive. 

Home and Community-based services: for older adults are programs and supports designed to help aging individuals maintain their independence, enhance their quality of life, and receive care in their preferred living environment, typically their own homes or within their communities. 
Silver Key Coalition

Elder Justice
Elder justice refers to the legal and social concept of ensuring the rights, safety, and well-being of older adults and protecting them from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of mistreatment. 
Financial Prevention:  
Better Business Bureau, Wayne State Institute of Gerontology, Michigan Attorney General. 

Seniors Post Incarceration 
Focuses on supporting individuals who have been incarcerated to reintegrate successfully into society. This includes helping them secure stable housing, find employment opportunities, access to healthcare services, obtain identification documents, and develop essential life skills.
