The RAISE Family Caregivers Act (H.R.3759) was passed in 2018 with the purpose of Recognizing, Assisting, Including, Supporting, and Engaging with family caregivers across the nation. The RAISE Act directed the Department of Health and Human Services to work with an assembled Advisory Council to develop a National Strategy that identifies recommended actions which would recognize and support the diverse needs of caregivers.
The 5 main goals outlined in the National Strategy are to:
Increase awareness and outreach
Build partnerships and engagement with family caregivers
Strengthen services and supports
Ensure financial and workplace security
Expand data, research, and evidence-based practices
The National Strategy details over 350 actions for the federal government, states, communities, health care systems, care providers, researchers, employers, non-profits, and other individuals can take to make these goals a reality.
How do the National Strategy goals relate to the Changing the Care Conversation (CTCC) guiding priorities?
How can your organization align with the RAISE Act National Strategy Goals?
This checklist is meant to prompt systems-level change in organizations. Questions encourage reflections on how an organization's vision aligns with the National Strategy goals and the framework it provides to support family caregivers.
